After students write first
drafts of their essays, in pairs students should read others' essays and
comment about them, especially about organization. These forms help
guide students toward writing organized academic essays in English.

Rationale for
Advanced Composition (Page will open in new window, online only.)
The Rationale for Advanced Composition was written in the context of the
Advanced Composition Class I teach at ITESM, Campus Querétaro, Mexico.
Specifically, the university encourages teachers to reflect on the Intended
Learning Outcomes (ILOs) which are called profiles, "perfiles" in Spanish.
Specifically, for each class, teachers are encouraged to examine (1) what they
want students to know (or be) at the end of the semester, (2) how they are going
to teach it, and (3) how they are going to test it. This page may be of
help to both teachers and motivated students of English composition.
