ESLBEE.COM News and Views is About You!
Greetings!
ESLBEE.COM News and Views is about YOU, both teachers and students to share what it is like teaching and learning English in different parts of the world.
Personally, I have taught advanced level university composition classes since 1995 when I moved to central Mexico, so I have begun this space sharing two essays I have used in every class for as long as I can remember.
Likewise, I hope other teachers in other countries will share resources that work for them in the classes they teach. I know many teachers, for example, who use materials that address economic, political, and cultural aspects of teaching and learning English these days, and all these aspects that influence the teaching and learning of English are important. It helps to know the context within which a student learns and uses English.
Students, too, have a voice in ESLBEE.COM News and Views! Today, for example (November 28, 2009), a former student from over ten years ago, now in the medical profession, told me that many new medical school students need higher English skills to process many new materials available only in English.
Of course, I have my own ideas on how students can advance to higher English skills "the most quickly," but it would also be very interesting to hear students describe what would work best for them or from non-native speaker (NNS) English teachers who have developed their own perspectives. Please take the opportunity to contribute whenever and wherever possible!
Technical Aspect of ESLBEE.COM News and Views
Technically, this blog allows the owner (that's me) to grant full posting and editing privileges to any other active participant(s), which, of course, I will be very happy to do. I think it would be great fun to get this blog going like an active, vibrant, news-reporting giant! Specifically, I'd like to see some university level research studies posted and discussed in these pages, much like the research studies and discussions that are held in graduate level classes. Any other ideas are, of course, welcome.
Thanks a lot!
